Don’t Exaggerate, Unless You’re a Caricaturist Exhibiting at Vienna’s Eurocature Festival

Eurocature, the annual conference and exhibition of caricature artists, brings together international talent to create spitting images.

Now in its fifth iteration, the Eurocature festival brings illustrious international talents to Vienna, producing new artworks on location over the course of the three-day festival. Organized by notable local caricaturists like Birgit Vlk, Ralf Ricker, Gerald Koller and Bernd Ertl, this year will see artists pouring in from a multitude of European countries to draw, paint and sculpt in friendly competition, with some even coming as far afield as South Korea and the U.S.

The festival also features lectures and demonstrations (seperately bookable) from experts on the finer points of technique, including French illustrator Bruno Tesse – known for his over-the-top depictions of film stars and other celebrities including Austria’s own Arnold Schwarzenegger – and German artist Marvin Lorenz, a master of watercolor. With prizes awarded in the categories best studio piece and best exaggeration as well as best digital, best traditional and best 3D artwork, the results and winners will be viewable to the public from Apr 12 through May 22.
