The new Jazz Star Morgan James is Coming to Vienna

The rising diva graces the Vienna jazz firmament

A new star on the jazz-horizon, Morgan James – who cut her teeth with covers of Aretha Franklin, Prince, Sam Smith, and her work with the popular Postmodern Jukebox – is now on tour in Europe supporting her first full album of original material, Reckless Abandon.

Celebrated as a “phenomenal talent” by The New York Times, the Idaho native is an alumnus of the prestigious Julliard School and has toured extensively, enchanting audiences with her sonorous voice. Since the release of her debut album Hunter, her music videos on Youtube have gathered more than 80 million views, leading to parts in Broadway shows like Godspell and The Addams Family, two cover albums and a Nina Simone tribute with Epic Records. Most recently, she has started her own label, Hedonist Records. Her new work is heavily inspired by soul and R’n’B, combining organ and piano with melodic guitar riffs.

Steadfastly refusing to use vocal tuning on her albums, her experience performing in New York clubs such as Rockwood Music Hall and 54 Below make Morgan James a seasoned entertainer, eager to prove herself with her own material in front of a live audience.

Dec 15, 20:30, Porgy & Bess 1., Riemergasse 11.
