US Ambassador to Austria Position Filled by IT Millionaire

U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated a new ambassador to Austria, a position that has been vacant for nearly a year since the departure of Alexa Wesner.

Trevor Traina, the 49 year old philanthropist, art collector and serial tech entrepreneur who founded CompareNet is currently CEO of IfOnly, an e-commerce platform targeting high-income American consumers with ‘Unique Experience Gifts and Things to Do with Experts’.

The scion of a wealthy San Francisco family, he attended Princeton, Oxford and Berkeley; Traina’s grandfather Wiley T. Buchanan was also an ambassador to Austria in the 1970s, so he would be following in the family footsteps. His appointment is still awaiting confirmation by the senate.
