The gargantuan pop culture mothership lands at the Prater

Making geek hearts leap since 2015, the Viennese outpost of the juggernaut known as Comic Con showcases more than 140 artists and hosts numerous panels and screenings, meet and greets, costume workshops and Q and A sessions, featuring the crème de la crème of sequential art, television, film and fandom. Among the noted comic book creators attending is Scott Snyder, author of American Vampire, Batman and Swamp Thing.

Snyder also writes short stories, some of which have been published in his book Happy Fish. Also expected is Adi Granov, best known for his work on Marvel’s Iron Man. The Bosnian-American artist has also created covers for Thor, X-Men and Black Widow. Other artists include Jim Balent, a cover artist for DC’s Catwoman, Emanuela Lupacchino, who worked on Star Trek and Doctor Who, and Guillermo Ortego, illustrator for Astonishing X-Men and Batman Eternal.

There will be plenty of actors present for some shameless ogling: Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films), Charles Martinet, the voice of Super Mario, John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings, Raiders of the Lost Ark) and Temuera Morrison (Star Wars, Green Lantern) are only some of them.

The cosplayers’ community will be represented by Filipino Liui Aquino, Austrian Lux Cosplay, and Aigue-Marine from Germany. Visitors are welcome to dress up as well! Another highlight is the second annual Influencer Video Con – a rare opportunity to see Youtubers up close. Finally, another added bonus for all gamers – there will be a League of Legends tournament. Whatever your pop cultural poison, Comic Con has got you covered.
