Word of the Week: anbraten

Verb. to flirt, hit on, come onto or try to pick up someone Lit. to fry or roast something

Verb. anbraten means to flirt, hit on, come onto or try to pick up someone – usually at a bar, but applicable anywhere. Lit. to fry or roast something; the operative analogy being that courtship is much like cooking – you need to marinate, season, then sear quickly on both sides, and follow with the constant application of steady heat, if you want a tasty dish. Though probably best to skip the sides and avoid medium-rare.

Wüst mi anbraten? (Are you trying to hit on me?)
